Prerequisite: Prior experience in animal handling or working in the animal industry is essential.
Overview:
Designed for individuals with animal handling experience seeking to develop grooming skills or upskill from a bather/brusher role.
LEARN & EXPERIENCE
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:
- Proper bathing, drying, and brushing techniques
- Identify dog breeds and coat types
- Identify grooming tools, understand their uses and how to maintain tools
- Learn correct clipping and scissoring skills
PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE:
- Groom approximately 12 dogs total
- Groom a variety of breeds, coat types, grooming styles, and behavioural traits
- Practice on a model dog head (students may keep their wig)
